About Course

This course introduces the foundational principles of Relationship Literacy (RLP), an operational competence vital for successful organizations. While technical skills secure jobs, relationship skills determine whether teams thrive or collapse under pressure.

Relationship Literacy is defined as the intentional development of skills and knowledge that enable individuals to build, maintain, and repair professional relationships. Unlike general communication training, this module focuses on the deeper emotional, psychological, and behavioral mechanisms that shape how people interpret experiences and react to others in the workplace.

Key areas covered in this foundational module include:

  • Self-Awareness: Explore your emotional patterns, communication habits, vulnerabilities, and the internal narrative that shapes your interpretation of situations. Professionals with strong self-awareness learn to respond instead of reacting and communicate with greater clarity. This section also addresses identifying and managing common emotional triggers (like feeling ignored or disrespected) to promote thoughtful decisions over impulsive ones.
  • Emotional Intelligence (EQ): Learn the five components of EQ—Self-awareness, Self-regulation, Intrinsic motivation, Empathy, and Social skills. Decades of research show that high EQ is a stronger predictor of leadership success than technical skill.
  • Bias Awareness: Understand how natural human cognitive shortcuts (biases like Assumption Bias or Tone Bias) can distort communication and damage relationships. RLP teaches professionals to question automatic interpretations before reacting.
  • Trust and Communication: Examine how trust is built (through consistency, accountability, and transparency) and how it is destroyed (through gossip, broken promises, and poor communication). Develop skills for respectful communication, which involves listening without interrupting, avoiding assumptions, and maintaining a professional tone.

By the end of this module, employees, leaders, and managers will possess the knowledge required to navigate interpersonal relationships with greater clarity, maturity, and professionalism. Teams with strong relational skills experience higher collaboration, faster problem-solving, and improved morale.
